In today’s match at Seddon Park, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first. Their openers, Sune Luus and Tazmin Brits, managed to score a partnership of 62 runs for the initial wicket.
Kerr successfully disrupted the opening partnership in the sixth over by dismissing Luus LBW, marking her 100th T20 international wicket.
She also dismissed Brits for 53 runs, with Jess Kerr taking the catch.
Jess Kerr contributed by taking two wickets as South Africa concluded their innings with a total of 177-5 in their allotted 20 overs.
The White Ferns started their chase energetically but experienced regular wicket losses.
By the eighth over, New Zealand was at 72-4. Despite some resistance from lower-order batters Izzy Sharp and Jess Kerr, they could not reach the target.
With this win, South Africa has evened the five-match series at 1-1.
The third match is scheduled to take place in Auckland on Friday.
