Rebecca Gayheart continues to grieve the passing of Eric Dane.
“There are no words,” Gayheart, 54, expressed on Instagram on Wednesday, March 18. “All our love forever — your girls ❤️🩹❤️.”
The Jawbreakers actress, who was married to Dane from 2004 until 2018, shared a collection of nostalgic photos featuring the couple and their two daughters. (In 2025, Gayheart withdrew her divorce petition as Dane battled ALS.)
Us Weekly confirmed in February that Dane, celebrated for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, passed away at 53.
“With heavy hearts, we announce that Dane passed on Thursday afternoon after a courageous fight with ALS,” read a statement from his family. “His final days were spent with dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his universe.”
The statement added, “During his journey with ALS, Eric became an ardent advocate for awareness and research, committed to making a difference for others facing similar battles. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Eric cherished his fans and was eternally grateful for the overwhelming love and support he received. The family requests privacy during this difficult time.”
Following Gayheart’s heartfelt tribute on Wednesday, she received an outpouring of support from her celebrity peers.
“Watched to the end,” Charisma Carpenter commented. “Sending love to you, your daughters, your family, and all his fans who were touched by his remarkable talent and presence.”
Cynthia Bailey added, “So beautiful. Sending love, strength, and prayers to you and your beautiful girls. I am deeply saddened by your loss. Thank you for sharing.”
Ariana Greenblatt shared her sentiments, noting that she “[loves] you guys forever.”
In the weeks following Dane’s passing, Gayheart and her children have found comfort in the community’s support.
“I am so moved by the outpouring of love and support from our community,” she wrote on Instagram Stories on February 22. “There aren’t words to express our gratitude. You are truly holding us up during this challenging time.”
A few months before his passing, Dane participated in a Famous Last Words interview for Netflix, which aired after his death.
“I think they would start with saying I’m a reactive person. ‘My dad was a reactive person,’ which doesn’t necessarily carry a negative connotation,” Dane reflected on how he hoped his children would remember him. “Some of their core memories involve me reacting to something. You know, traffic is always a good impetus for that.”
He added, “I believe they would describe me as pretty tough. Resilient. They would say I was loving, endearing, compassionate, empathetic, and trustworthy. I’m a good dad.”
