The first season of “Saturday Night Live U.K.” has been expanded with two additional episodes, bringing the total to eight.
This Sky series is set to debut live from London on Saturday at 10 p.m. local time, featuring “SNL” icon Tina Fey as host and British band Wet Leg as the musical guest. Jamie Dornan is slated to host the March 21 episode with musical performance by Wolf Alice, while Riz Ahmed will take the stage on April 4 alongside Kasabian.
Each 75-minute episode will be crafted and rehearsed during the week of its broadcast, before being recorded live with a studio audience. The show aims to infuse a distinctly British style into “SNL,” while maintaining familiar elements like the opening monologue and “Weekend Update.”
A different host will be featured each week, with the main cast of “SNL U.K.” consisting of Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.
According to a press release, “This first wave of hosts, musical guests, and cast members represents the start of a dynamic new chapter for the internationally renowned ‘SNL’ franchise, merging its rich history with a new generation of British comedic talent.”
“SNL U.K.” is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s U.K. team and Broadway Video for Sky and NOW. Lorne Michaels is the executive producer, with James Longman as lead producer, Liz Clare directing, and Daran Jonno Johnson as head writer.
The show will broadcast live on Sky and the streaming service NOW in the U.K., with episodes available on Peacock the following day in the U.S.
