Gripping video footage captures the astonishing moment when a New York State trooper narrowly escaped serious injury during a high-speed SUV crash that triggered a chain reaction during a routine traffic stop.
The trooper was hit by a Mercedes he had pulled over after a 2007 Chevy Suburban collided with his police cruiser and the Mercedes around 5 a.m. on Sunday, leaving him fortunate to be alive.
Body camera footage reveals the unidentified trooper conducting a traffic stop on the New York Thruway in Mamaroneck when the screeching Chevy suddenly crashes into the two vehicles.
The trooper can be heard moaning as he limps away from the wreckage, with his partner expressing concern for his well-being.
“What the f—k,” the other trooper exclaims in the background.
The trooper sustained minor injuries, while the second officer was unharmed.
Additional footage released by police shows the other trooper removing the Chevy’s driver, identified as 24-year-old Kevin Ariel Cunache Moyolema, from the vehicle and seating him on the roadside.
Moyolema was also taken to the hospital with minor pain.
The reason for the Mercedes driver, identified as Siiyer Walker, 52, being pulled over remains unclear. Walker declined medical attention.
No charges have been filed related to the crash, and the investigation continues.
