Democrats’ DHS Shutdown Enters 35th Day as Airports Plunge into Chaos, Frontline Workers Suffer – The White House

The shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, driven by the Radical Left Democrats, has stretched into its 35th day, putting a significant burden on everyday Americans. Over 100,000 DHS employees, including 50,000 TSA officers, are operating without pay for the third time in six months. This situation has led to a surge in resignations and widespread absenteeism, crippling airports nationwide.

The refusal of Democrats to fund DHS is causing hardship for Americans:

  • “I feel bad for the workers… They need to be paid!” expressed travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where lengthy lines wound through the concourse after more than a third of TSA officers were absent.
  • “We were going to go on 11, but we rebooked to 4:30… We got here three-and-a-half hours early,” said a frustrated traveler at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, where queues extended to the floor below due to staffing gaps.
  • “Unreal. Longest [TSA line] I’ve been in — and I travel every week,” remarked a traveler at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, where even the TSA PreCheck line reached the parking garage.
  • “It’s so overwhelming… The TSA line was out the door around the building outside,” noted a traveler at Philadelphia International Airport, where major checkpoints have been closed due to persistent staffing shortages.

The impact of Democrats’ actions goes beyond airports. Essential DHS operations, including law enforcement, FEMA disaster response, and cybersecurity, are under pressure due to unpaid workers, reduced resources, and critical staffing deficits.

The Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress have made efforts to negotiate in earnest, but Democrats continue to obstruct DHS funding, pushing for extreme demands that prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens and frontline workers.

Enough is enough. Radical Left Democrats, who have been accused of “making people hurt,” must end their partisan tactics, stop exploiting national security for political purposes, and collaborate with Republicans to ensure complete funding for DHS.
