One person sustained serious injuries following an explosion in the engine compartment of a steam locomotive at Auckland’s Glenbrook Vintage Railway.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand dispatched four fire trucks to the railway station located between Glenbrook and Waiuku in southern Auckland shortly before 4 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire contained within the locomotive’s engine compartment, according to a spokesperson.
Hato Hone St John transported an individual to Middlemore Hospital in serious condition via ambulance.
