“American Idol” is enhancing its 24th season with the launch of a new companion podcast.
The “‘American Idol’ Official Podcast,” hosted by Danielle Fishel, aims to provide an in-depth look into America’s renowned music competition. It will focus on the standout performances, feature exclusive interviews, offer behind-the-scenes insights, and provide expert analysis of the judges’ feedback.
The podcast is set to debut on Wednesday, April 1, across Disney+, Hulu, and various podcast platforms, aligning with the live shows, which commence on Monday, March 30.
Danielle Fishel, recognized for her iconic portrayal of Topanga on ABC’s “Boy Meets World” and Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World,” has been affiliated with Disney for many years. Since 2017, she has been directing over 50 episodes of multi-camera shows such as “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” “Raven’s Home,” “Shifting Gears,” and “Lopez vs Lopez.”
Fishel also co-hosts the “Teen Beat” podcast and “Pod Meets World.” In 2025, she secured a new overall deal with iHeartMedia. Together with her husband, Jensen Karp, she produces “Teen Beat,” “How Rude, Tanneritos!,” “Magical Rewind,” and “Pod Meets World.”
“American Idol” kicked off its 24th season (ninth season on ABC) in January with its highest-rated premiere in four years, averaging 8.27 million viewers in live+3 and multiplatform viewing.
“American Idol” is broadcast live on Mondays on ABC and is available for streaming on Hulu the following day. Starting March 30, live streaming will also be available on Disney+. The show is produced by Fremantle and 19 Entertainment, a division of Sony Pictures Television. The executive producers include showrunner Megan Wolflick, Eli Holzman, and Aaron Saidman.
