In 2024, Ricochet, a former WWE star, made the move to AEW. At 37, he is recognized for his exceptional in-ring skills and has earned championships around the world. Currently, he leads the Demand faction and has held the AEW National Championship.
Known as the Lighskin Kingpin, Ricochet lost his AEW National Championship title to Jack Perry during a 21-man blackjack battle royal at Revolution. Following this loss, Ricochet expressed his frustration backstage, which All Elite Wrestling shared on Twitter. The video sparked numerous responses from fans globally. In particular, an elderly female fan with multiple sclerosis mocked his acting, which Ricochet found deeply offensive.
In response, Ricochet made a disparaging comment about her illness, leading to significant backlash. Despite issuing an apology, both he and his wife, Samantha Irvin, continue to receive threats in their messages.
During a recent conversation on Inside the Ropes, wrestling icon RVD expressed that the backlash against Ricochet’s comment was excessive. While not justifying Ricochet’s actions, he criticized the harsh reaction from the online wrestling community.
âUm, well, you guys know I have a history with the internet mark community. I think they went too far. Iâm not saying Iâve got his back, but I think, you know, itâs like â is it really that much worse than telling someone to f*** off and die? Nobody would care if you said that, right?,â said RVD.
AEW Star Ricochet Offers an Apology
Ricochet recently took to X to express his apologies for his remarks. He assured that he aims to improve in the future.
“I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are affected by MS. She didn’t deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward I’ll do better,” he wrote.
The future remains uncertain for the Lightskin Kingpin. It is hoped that Tony Khan will not impose a severe penalty on him.
