During the finale of Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Mortensen revealed in a confessional that he had spent a night with Paul before her departure to film The Bachelorette.
“This is kind of like the last, our last time seeing each other before she goes away. And yeah, it kind of feels surreal,” he expressed.
Mortensen elaborated, “There’s part of me that obviously, I want to go over there because she’s leaving and I’m not going to talk to her for, I think, two months. So yeah, I’d be lying if I didn’t think there was a piece of me that just kind of wanted to go see her, be with her, possibly for the last time. I don’t know.”
The finale also sparked discussions among fans about whether Paul is pregnant.
In mid-March, ABC decided to cancel Paul’s season following the release of a video showing her throwing chairs at Mortensen, with her 8-year-old daughter, Indy, present.
