The British heir to the $292 million “Peter’s Pies” empire, Dylan Thomas, made headlines after being arrested for attempting to break into Buckingham Palace just a month before the tragic death of his best friend, William Bush. Thomas, 24, was caught climbing the fence of the London royal residence and was released on bail before allegedly stabbing Bush to death on Christmas Eve, 2023.

Bush’s older brother, Alexander, revealed in a police interview that his late brother had informed him about Thomas’ arrest for trespassing at Buckingham Palace. Alexander dismissed it as a joke, but William took it seriously, stating that it was in Dylan’s nature to be curious and take risks.

The motive behind Thomas’ attempt to break into Buckingham Palace remains unclear. He is the heir to Peter’s Food Services, a business empire known for its iconic Peter’s Pies, with an estimated worth of $292 million. Thomas is accused of brutally slashing Bush’s neck and severing his jugular vein with two knives during a violent altercation at their shared home in Cardiff.

While Thomas has admitted to manslaughter, he denies the murder charges against him. The close friendship between Thomas and Bush had deteriorated in the months leading up to the tragic incident, particularly as Bush announced his plans to move in with his girlfriend.

Prior to the murder, Bush had confided in his girlfriend about Thomas’ chilling statement expressing thoughts of killing him. Additionally, Thomas had searched for “anatomy of the neck” on Google just a day before the incident, indicating premeditation.

On the morning of Christmas Eve, Thomas lured Bush into his bedroom and launched a frenzied attack, stabbing him multiple times before chasing him outside and inflicting fatal wounds. Thomas claimed self-defense when he called the police, stating that he did not stop stabbing Bush until he died.

The trial is ongoing, shedding light on the complexities of the relationship between Thomas and Bush and the tragic events that unfolded on that fateful Christmas Eve.
