RM is under scrutiny following the spread of online posts accusing him of exaggerating a recent injury. BigHit had previously confirmed the injury ahead of BTS’ comeback concert, but subsequent public appearances led to mixed reactions and doubts about the injury’s severity.
As BTS continued their overseas activities, the skepticism intensified. Some netizens criticized the promotions abroad, suggesting that RM’s behavior after these events made the injury seem exaggerated. Commenters claimed that Namjoon’s condition appeared less severe than initially described.
Meanwhile, some fans defended RM by providing a timeline of his recovery. They noted that the injury emerged around March 18 or 19, and by March 26, his walking boot was removed. Supporters countered the accusations by clarifying that
“it is an ankle sprain and not a fracture.”
Many pointed out that a sprained ankle typically does not require an extended recovery time.
Others emphasized that with proper rest, nutrition, and care, recovery from a sprained ankle can be expedited. They mentioned that a sprain can heal in days if rest and limited use are prioritized.
RM’s injury announcement ahead of BTS’ comeback stage
On March 19, BigHit Music disclosed that RM suffered an injury during rehearsals for BTS’ comeback stage. The incident occurred the same day, prompting immediate hospital care for examination and treatment.
The diagnosis revealed ligament damage and inflammation, including a contusion of the talus. Consequently, both RM and the company decided to limit his physical activities to prevent further strain. During the performance, RM’s participation in choreography was restricted. He later posted a photo online showing his ankle in a cast, accompanied by a crying emoticon.
Since the ARIRANG comeback stage, BTS has engaged in various promotions, including Spotify’s SWIMSIDE event and an appearance on The Tonight Show.
