A man from Philadelphia has been charged with attempted murder following an incident where he allegedly stabbed a Planet Fitness employee multiple times. The gym had previously banned him, and the attack left the victim in critical condition.
Davier Massey, 28, was taken into custody on Thursday shortly after the stabbing occurred at the gym located in the Wyncote area of Cheltenham Township, according to local police.
Police reports indicate that officers arrived at the Planet Fitness around 12:30 p.m. in response to a stabbing report. They discovered a male employee with multiple stab wounds, who was quickly transported to a trauma center with severe injuries. No immediate updates on his condition were available.
Authorities stated that the incident stemmed from a dispute between the employee and Massey, who was barred from the gym.
One gym user expressed disbelief about the incident, telling FOX29 Philadelphia, āI canāt believe this. I feel like Iām in a dream right now.ā
Another gym-goer described the staff as āniceā and āupliftingā to the station.
āItās a little shocking for something to happen right here,ā he said.
Massey was apprehended a short distance from the scene and now faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, and possessing an instrument of crime, as stated by police.
Authorities have denied bail for Massey, and he is currently held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility as he awaits further court proceedings.

Police have not disclosed a motive for the attack or further details about what led to the confrontation at the gym.
The investigation is still underway.
