In an impressive display of talent, Rajasthan Royals (RR) rising star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hit a spectacular six off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah during the IPL 2026 match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Tuesday, April 7. The 15-year-old confidently launched Bumrah’s delivery deep into the crowd over mid-on.

This remarkable shot occurred in the second over of RR’s innings. Bumrah delivered a length ball right into the slot, which Vaibhav effortlessly flicked, much to the surprise of the pace bowler. Bumrah could only smile as he walked back to his mark. Further showcasing his skills, Vaibhav struck another six in the same over, this time off a short-length ball, sending it towards the backward square leg.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made a significant impact during his debut IPL season last year. As an opening batter, he scored 252 runs in seven innings with an impressive strike rate of 206.55, which included a century and a fifty. His outstanding performance earned him the Super Striker of the Season award.

Recently, Sooryavanshi stood out as a top run-scorer in the U19 ODI World Cup, accumulating 439 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 169.49. His achievements included one century and three fifties, with a notable innings of 175 runs off 80 balls against England in the final.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal help RR dominate MI in IPL 2026 match

Openers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a strong start for RR in their IPL 2026 match against MI. The pair amassed 59 runs during the powerplay of an 11-over per side game, shortened due to rain.

At the time of this report, the Royals were 62 for no loss after four overs, with Jaiswal scoring 39 off 15 balls and Vaibhav contributing 22 off 9 balls.

Earlier, MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field first, aiming to leverage the conditions. In their last encounter in 2025, Mumbai defeated RR by 100 runs. However, RR had won three of their previous five matches against MI. While MI suffered a loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) in their last outing, the Riyan Parag-led RR team secured consecutive victories over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT).
