Over the last decade, CM Punk has emerged as a prominent figure in the wrestling industry, but this fame has come at a significant cost.
In a recent appearance on The Ross Tucker Podcast, the World Champion recounted a harrowing in-ring incident where he believes his life was at risk.
Thanks for the submission!
When asked about his most severe injuries in the ring, Punk elaborated on some of the worst.
“Well, let’s knock on wood here—let’s do one of those. I mean, probably the worst one was a fractured skull. That was… that was pretty interesting. My head hit another guy’s head, and we kind of sandwiched on the mat at the same time. Yeah, that wasn’t fun. And it got pretty serious. We look back at it now and we all laugh, but I could have died—and it’s just funny now because I didn’t. Man, it would have stunk if I did,” he claimed.
Although Punk did not specify when this injury happened, he went on to mention that he has faced numerous dangerous injuries throughout his career.
“You name it, I’ve probably done it. I’ve torn both triceps. Yeah. The last one, I got DDT’d, and when I hit the mat, the thing just, bang, popped.”
Despite these past injuries, CM Punk is in top form as he heads into WrestleMania, where he will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns.
CM Punk to Face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42 for the World Heavyweight Championship
Since The Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns secured his spot at WrestleMania and chose to challenge CM Punk.
The two have engaged in verbal disputes and physical confrontations, and with just one episode of WWE RAW remaining, they are set to finally clash in the ring.
The rivalry between Punk and Reigns goes back to Reigns’ debut on the main roster when he was aligned with Punk as part of The Shield. A lot has transpired since 2012, and with both competitors ready, their match is one of the most anticipated events of this year’s WrestleMania.
