Sandra Taylor, a certified sommelier, has a multifaceted career, working with the Las Vegas Raiders and serving as the chief ambassador for Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.
Reflecting on her role with the Raiders, Taylor remarked, “The fans at the stadium are thrilled to have access to premium wines on game day, making it feel like they’re hosting in their own homes.”
Taylor transitioned to her current profession as she sought an alternative career path after three decades in acting and modeling. “I always had a keen sense of smell and taste, so I took a few introductory wine courses to explore my interest. I enjoyed them immensely,” she explained to Sommelier Business. Her journey into the wine world began when she won a charity auction for a tour of Barolo and Barbaresco at a Hollywood gala.
Taylor shared, “During the tour, I had an epiphany and fell in love with the history, the grapes, the terroir, and the people. The rest is history! My restaurant closed during Covid, and when my friend Mark Davis, owner of The Raiders, was building a new stadium, I proposed the idea of a premium wine program for the suite holders.”
According to Taylor, Davis embraced the concept, and it quickly gained traction among wine enthusiasts after several games.
Discussing her work, Taylor said the highlight is “sharing the pure joy of wine with others. Having been an actress for 30 years, I feel I’m an effective presenter and love sharing this experience.”
On the downside, Taylor confessed, “The only challenge is standing on my feet for extended periods.”
