Daniel Neeleman and his wife, Hannah Neeleman, are considering the possibility of further expanding their family after the arrival of their ninth child.
“This is kind of a big milestone for us,” Daniel shared with GQ in an interview released on Tuesday, April 7. “Nine feels surreal because Hannah’s one of nine, I’m one of nine. I think we always kind of had this magical nine number in our head that we wanted to get to. Now, who knows? Are we done? Is there more? We don’t know.”
He added, “I mean, it’s still too early to decide that, but right now, we just feel really blessed that we’ve had these nine healthy babies and each one of them has been so unique, so special, and have contributed so much to the family in their own individual ways. When we were expecting this ninth one, everyone was just so excited to see what’s this baby going to be like? What’s their personality? What’s their hair color?”
Daniel and Hannah gained popularity by sharing their lives on social media through the @ballerinafarm account, which is also the name of their farm in Utah. The couple announced in February they were expecting their ninth child, and a month later, they joyfully shared the news of their baby’s arrival.
“Wanted to hop on here and say that last night we had a new addition to the family. Baby No. 9. [We are] so happy about [it],” Hannah said in a TikTok video at the time, while Daniel showed their newborn resting in her arms.
One month after welcoming their baby girl, Daniel and Hannah admitted they still hadn’t chosen a name for their daughter.
“I think part of our problem is, I think we have a really good name list going. … It’s a little too good, so we’re having a hard time choosing a name,” Hannah explained in an Instagram video on Monday, April 6. “We tried these names out. Actually, I think there’s a few different reasons why we have had a hard time naming the child. This pregnancy, I didn’t find out the gender, so it was just a baby in there. But I really felt strongly it was a boy, I was getting total boy vibes. I wanted to do a Jr., like a Daniel Jr. But then it came out a girl.”
She further elaborated, “We did have a girl name too, but we didn’t have a specific one. I think that makes it hard when you’re not calling your baby it’s name in the womb, then I feel like it just is really hard when they come out because it’s like, ‘Are they that? Are they not that?’”
Daniel mentioned that while their eight other children have their own opinions on potential names, he and Hannah made it clear to them, “This is not a democracy.” Daniel also shared that they have been trying out the name Imogen for their daughter, a choice Hannah said she “really” likes.
“That’s our name update. We have been calling her a name for the past few days that we’re going to try out and see if it sticks. If it sticks, then we will announce it soon. If not, I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. So we are just keeping it chill,” Hannah stated.
She captioned her post, “Wanted to give you all a name update for baby girl. Naming children is not for the faint of heart, but we’re getting closer.”
