As the premiere of “Euphoria” Season 3 approaches on Sunday, coinciding with his Coachella performance, composer Labrinth has expressed his thoughts about the series and his music.

In a recent Instagram story, Labrinth revealed, “People will comfortably lie in this industry and still call themselves honest people. So no cap, I decided to remove whatever music I had in it.”

He continued, “I spoke to HBO, as far as I know, we are cool. I left because, last truth, when I work for someone, their vision is paramount to me, but I don’t let people treat me like shit.”

These comments seem to follow Sam Levinson’s statement to Rolling Stone, where Levinson described Labrinth as “an incredible collaborator” who was instrumental in shaping the sound of “Euphoria.” With the show taking a five-year leap forward, Levinson mentioned that the characters have moved beyond high school, and as a result, the “pop roots of it have faded away.” He added, “In general, I was less interested in needle drops and more interested in something that guided us through this world.”

For the upcoming season airing on Sunday night, composer Hans Zimmer will be leading the score with full composer credits.

Last month, Labrinth, who composed the music for “Euphoria” seasons 1 and 2, appeared to distance himself from the series, stating, “I’m done with this industry. Fuck Columbia. Double fuck ‘Euphoria.’ I’m out. Thank you and good night x.”

Labrinth is renowned for his contributions to the “Euphoria” score and soundtrack, with tracks like “All for Us,” “Formula,” “Mount Everest,” and “Never Felt So Alone” — the latter featuring Billie Eilish’s vocals and earning a Grammy nomination — amassing millions of streams.
