Two Missouri Police Officers Indicted for Misconduct

Two Missouri police officers were separately indicted this week for similar offenses – stopping women and searching their phones for nude photos.

Former Missouri State Highway Patrol officer David McKnight and former Florissant officer Julian Alcala face federal charges of violating the rights of multiple women and tampering with evidence.

David McKnight’s Case

McKnight, 39, allegedly victimized nine women between September 2023 and August 2024 by pulling them over for a traffic violation, searching their phones, and taking nude photos with his own phone.

He resigned five days after his arrest by patrol investigators on August 21.

Julian Alcala’s Case

Alcala, 29, is accused of similar crimes involving 20 women between February and May. He confiscated phones under the guise of checking insurance and registration, searching for nude photos, and even texting a video from a victim’s phone to his own.

Alcala resigned from the Florissant department in June following an FBI investigation.

Both officers are facing legal action and have not yet obtained legal representation.

The Florissant police department expressed disgust at the behavior, emphasizing that it does not reflect the values of the department.
