CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten has presented concerning findings for Republicans, based on the latest polls regarding the cost-of-living crisis, which is being worsened by Donald Trumpâs involvement in the Iran conflict.
Speaking on Thursdayâs âNews Central,â Enten described the statistics as âthe most troublesome sign that I have seen for the President of the United States and the Republican Party so far.â
Trumpâs approval rating on this issue is currently at -41 points.
âWoo! Down underwater we go!â exclaimed Enten. âHis net approval at a record low, 41 points below water! You canât win when youâre at 41 points below water on the cost of living.â
Enten then shared additional troubling data:
âYou think this 41 points below water is bad? Take a look at independents. Itâs even worse. I mean, 60 points underwater when it comes to Trump and the cost of living among independents. Again, a record low.â
Enten remarked that this situation is âjust a political nightmare waiting to happen for the Republican Party come the midterm election.â
The analyst indicated that these alarming figures â regarding what was the leading issue for voters in the 2024 presidential election â could lead to significant losses for the GOP in both the House and Senate during the 2026 midterms.
