On Tuesday, Nick Offerman expressed his reservations about President Donald Trump overseeing America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

During a segment on “The Daily Show,” the “Parks and Recreation” actor humorously reconsidered his initial skepticism, saying, “Hang on, perhaps I am rushing to judgment.”

He added, “We can only hope Trump puts as much love into America’s birthday as he would for Jeffrey Epstein’s.”

The segment included an image of Trump’s alleged indecent birthday card to the late convicted sex offender, which Trump has denied authoring. The president’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal, which published a picture of the 2003 card last year, was dismissed by a federal judge on Monday.

Offerman quipped, “I abhor the message, but I do appreciate a handwritten card. Any asshole can go to Hallmark, but calligraphy shows you care.”

Known for his criticism of Trump, Offerman joked that his Ron Swanson character “would’ve despised” the president and mocked that Trump doesn’t “have anything else going on” before the Fourth of July festivities.

“Gas prices are hovering just below ‘Fury Road’ levels, but have fun picking out the balloons,” he jested.

Later, Offerman questioned how Trump is showing his care for America, leading to a news clip about the Treasury Department’s plan to print bills with the president’s signature to commemorate the significant birthday.

Offerman humorously pointed out, “Signing the dollar bills? But Mr. President, how can you sign them all? For that you would need — an autopen,” highlighting Trump’s criticism of his predecessor Joe Biden for using an autopen, even though Trump and other past presidents have utilized the device.

Offerman also commented on plans for the U.S. Mint to produce a 24-karat gold coin featuring Trump.

He remarked, “Wow, a coin with Donald Trump’s face. Finally, a way to lose the respect of a gumball machine.”
