This week on Legally Us, Rachael Bennett, a family law specialist and senior attorney at Sullivan Law & Associates, discusses the criminal charges faced by The Real Housewives of Miami star Lisa Hochstein and her former boyfriend Jody Glidden related to her ex-husband, Leonard “Lenny” Hochstein.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Monday, April 13, Lisa, 43, and Glidden, 52, are each charged with one count of interception of wire, oral, or electronic communications.

On Wednesday, April 15, Lisa voluntarily surrendered to authorities. Her attorney, Jayne Weintraub, informed TMZ that Lisa “has nothing to hide” as the legal proceedings continue.

“This is quite serious. They are accused of secretly installing a listening device in Lenny’s car,” Bennett explains to Us. “Florida requires ‘All Party Consent’ for recording, meaning that recording someone without their permission is illegal. It is classified as a third-degree felony, potentially leading to up to five years in prison if convicted.”

UPDATE — 4/15/26, 11:42 a.m. ET: The Real Housewives of Miami star Lisa Hochstein has turned herself in to authorities. Hochstein’s attorney, Jayne Weintraub, confirmed to TMZ on Wednesday, April 15, that the surrender was voluntary and her client “has nothing to hide” as the legal process plays out. From March 12 to March 31, 2023, documents claim Lisa and Glidden “unlawfully and intentionally” intercepted, attempted to intercept, or had others intercept oral communications involving Lisa’s ex-husband, Leonard ‘Lenny’ Hochstein, and his contacts.

Weintraub, alongside Howard Srebnick and Frank Gaviria, Glidden’s lawyer, stated on Monday that “This matter is part of a contentious divorce and doesn’t belong in criminal court,” which Bennett believes could “offer important context.”

“Divorces can bring out the worst in even reasonable people,” Bennett tells Us. “However, this defense might be seen as minimizing the situation, so care must be taken not to downplay her actions if these allegations are true.”

Despite their divorce, The Real Housewives of Miami star Lisa Hochstein and Lenny Hochstein continue to face legal disputes. After Lisa, 43, was charged with allegedly intercepting communications with her ex-husband, court documents reveal ongoing disagreements between the exes.

Glidden was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, last month and is no longer listed in the jail database as of Monday.

Lenny, 59, filed for divorce from Lisa in May 2022 after 12 years of marriage. The divorce was finalized in November 2024, and they share custody of their two children, son Logan, 10, and daughter Elle, 5. Lisa ended her relationship with Glidden earlier this year.

Us Weekly has reached out to Lenny for a comment.
