PGA Tour officially drops two events to confirm exit from Hawaii from 2027

The PGA Tour has announced the reduction of its season-opening events for the 2027 season. Traditionally, the season kicks off with the Sentry event, followed by the Sony Open in Hawaii. However, on Monday, the Tour confirmed the cutback of these initial events.

In contrast, the 2026 PGA Tour season began with the Sony Open in Hawaii, as the Sentry event was canceled. This decision was due to water disputes and a severe drought at the Plantation Course at Kapalua.

The current PGA Tour season commenced on January 15 at the Waialae Country Club, where Chris Gotterup emerged victorious in the opening game. Following this event, the tour proceeded to The American Express and then the Farmers Insurance Open.

Looking ahead, the 2027 season is expected to begin with The American Express.
