Rumors suggesting that Blake Lively paid to attend the 2026 Met Gala are unfounded. The 38-year-old actress was invited as a guest of Vogue and Condé Nast’s global chief content officer and artistic director, Anna Wintour, according to an exclusive confirmation to Us Weekly.
Lively embraced the “Costume Art” theme of the event, wearing an Atelier Versace gown from the 2006 archives, complemented by Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. The occasion marked Lively’s return to the Met Gala since 2022.
“It’s a privilege to attend with Donatella [Versace], which I deeply appreciate,” Lively expressed in an interview with Vogue on Monday. “I haven’t been here since I had my fourth child.”
Attending solo, Lively, who shares four children with husband Ryan Reynolds, reflected on her evolving identity. “Each year, I grow into a new version of myself, and stepping into my current self with strength and confidence is vital to me,” she shared. “Equally important is cherishing time at home with my kids in pajamas. Balancing both is a privilege I cherish.”
Versace praised Lively’s appearance, stating she looked “stunning” in the archival gown. “Blake has had numerous unforgettable Versace moments at the Met, and tonight’s was no exception,” the designer remarked.
Lively’s memorable Versace look at the 2022 Met Gala, which paid tribute to New York City, was perhaps her most iconic. The red carpet moment captivated many when she revealed a green train beneath her dress by untying a large copper bow.
This year, Lively chose a pastel gown for its symbolic meaning. She explained, “The gown’s colors, reminiscent of a sunrise and sunset, reflect beauty, warmth, and life’s cycles. It’s art that speaks personally and meaningfully to me,” she told Vogue.

Lively’s Met Gala appearance coincided with a settlement in her protracted legal battle with It Ends With Us costar and director, Justin Baldoni. In a joint statement through their attorneys, Lively and Baldoni expressed that the film “It Ends With Us” is a source of pride for everyone involved. They emphasized their commitment to raising awareness and making a significant impact on the lives of domestic violence survivors.
The statement concluded, acknowledging the challenges and recognizing the importance of addressing Lively’s concerns. It expressed hope for closure and a constructive path forward, underscoring a commitment to maintaining respectful and productive environments both in the workplace and online.
