The tragic case of Amanda Overstreet, the Colorado teen whose severed head and hands were found in a freezer after more than 15 years, has brought to light new details about her parents.

Amanda’s stepfather, Bradley Imer, had a troubled past with encounters with law enforcement. Court records show that in 2002, he was arrested in Arizona for drug possession, trafficking, and driving under the influence. During a routine traffic stop, police discovered methamphetamine and illegal firearms in his vehicle. Imer entered into a plea deal with the state, receiving probation after eight of the nine charges against him were dropped. Tragically, he passed away from COVID complications in 2021.

Amanda’s mother, Leanne Imer, also had a history of legal issues. She lost custody of Amanda when she was just 3 years old due to neglect and abuse. In addition, while living in Texas, Leanne was accused of stealing from her own family members. Allegations surfaced that she misused power of attorney to access her father’s assets, resulting in thousands of dollars being withdrawn from his accounts. Despite these accusations, Leanne was never formally charged for her actions.

Amanda Overstreet went missing in 2005, but her disappearance was never reported to authorities. Earlier this year, a real estate investor clearing out Leanne Imer’s hoarder home in Grand Junction made the gruesome discovery of Amanda’s severed head and hands. DNA testing confirmed the remains belonged to Amanda.

Leanne Imer claimed that Amanda had run away at a truck stop in Texas, but investigators found no evidence to support this story. The circumstances surrounding Amanda’s death remain unknown, and no arrests have been made in connection to the case.

Leanne Imer has not been available for comment regarding the tragic events surrounding her daughter’s death. The investigation into Amanda Overstreet’s murder continues, shedding light on the troubled past of her parents and the mysterious circumstances of her disappearance.
