The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to kick off on June 11, with opening ceremonies in Mexico City, Toronto, and Los Angeles promising to be as culturally rich as the tournament itself. FIFA has released the complete lineup of performers for these events, which are united by a single creative theme while celebrating each host nation’s unique identity. The diverse lineup features artists from various genres and regions, including K-pop, reggaeton, Afrobeats, cumbia, Canadian indie, Brazilian pop, and American hip-hop, transforming the ceremonies into a global celebration of music and culture. FIFA President Gianni Infantino summed up the intention, stating: “Music, culture, and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament.”

The ceremonies will start 90 minutes before the respective match kickoffs, with gates opening four hours prior to allow fans to enjoy pre-show activities and entertainment. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and participate actively in the events. However, FIFA has yet to announce the halftime show performer for the World Cup Final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, leaving the most anticipated solo performance of the tournament still undisclosed.

The tournament opener between Mexico and South Africa on June 11 will be set against the backdrop of a vibrant pregame show at Azteca Stadium. J Balvin, a Colombian reggaeton icon, will headline the event, joined by Maná, a celebrated Mexican rock band with a legacy spanning over three decades. Alejandro Fernandez, son of the legendary ranchero singer Vicente Fernandez, adds a touch of traditional Mexican culture, while Belinda and Lila Downs further enhance the local artist lineup. South African singer Tyla and Los Angeles Azules, known for their traditional cumbia style, will create a symbolic and geographic connection between the hosts and visitors.

As the inaugural event of the tournament, the Mexico City ceremony holds significant importance. Azteca Stadium, renamed Mexico City Stadium for the World Cup, will host an event designed to welcome the global audience on behalf of all three host nations.

On June 12, Canada will play its first FIFA World Cup match on home turf against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Toronto opening ceremony will feature a mosaic-themed reimagining of the FIFA World Cup Trophy, symbolizing the diverse people, cultures, and communities that define Canada. The lineup of performers mirrors this diversity, with Michael Bublé leading the Canadian contingent, joined by Alessia Cara, Alanis Morissette, Jessie Reyez, and William Prince. International artists Elyanna, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, and Vegedream will also perform, creating a show that spans Canada’s vast cultural landscape. Produced in collaboration with Balich Wonder Studio, the ceremony begins at 13:30 local time, promising a journey across Canada’s expanse before shifting focus to the stadium for the match.

Later that day, the United States will begin their World Cup campaign against Paraguay in Los Angeles. The ceremony has attracted significant attention, featuring Katy Perry, who returns to a major performance stage after her Super Bowl halftime show in 2015. Joining her is Future, representing American hip-hop, and LISA from the K-pop group Blackpink, adding an international cultural element. Brazilian star Anitta, alongside Rema and Tyla, completes a diverse lineup representing South America, Nigeria, and South Africa. FIFA describes the Los Angeles ceremony as a celebration of “the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas,” a mission the confirmed performers already fulfill impressively.
