Conservative podcaster Matt Walsh recently expressed his opinions on alcohol consumption, responding to Steven Bartlett’s stance on the issue. This discussion was sparked by a viral clip from The Diary of a CEO podcast, where Bartlett recounted his personal experience with alcohol. During a conversation with YouTuber Chris Williamson, Bartlett explained that after abstaining from alcohol for a year, he experimented with drinking again.

Bartlett, an entrepreneur, revealed that just a few glasses of wine had a significant negative impact, disrupting his sleep and digestion, which affected his podcast performance the next day. He noted that his fitness tracker recorded these changes, illustrating how even a few glasses of wine could trigger a chain reaction of adverse effects.

On May 23, a clip from Bartlett’s December 2025 podcast was shared by an X user, amassing over 17 million views. In response, Matt Walsh posted his reaction on May 24:

“The anti-alcohol stuff has become totally hysterical. It’s the worst and the gayest of the 90s anti-smoking propaganda all over again. Give up alcohol if you want but the stuff isn’t battery acid. A sip won’t send you to the hospital. A glass of wine ruined three days of your life? When did it become normal and acceptable for men to brag about their weak constitutions? Really weird.”

Walsh further criticized Bartlett, commenting on his own X post:

“I drank two glasses of wine and then podcasted worse” might be the most pathetic sentence ever uttered by a male of the human species.”

Walsh’s remarks elicited a response from journalist Tracy Beanz, who quipped, “We are going to outlive you.” Walsh, a host at the Daily Wire, retorted that he was unconcerned, citing his six children as the continuation of his “bloodline.”

“I could die tomorrow and I still win. The “health optimizers” only care about extending their own lives by every minute possible. They don’t think about bloodline and legacy. That’s the kind of longevity that matters,” Matt Walsh added.

Matt Walsh Targets Excessive Health Monitoring

The health consciousness stuff has gone massively overboard. People walking around with bands tracking their vital signs every second of the day like they’re astronauts on the ISS. Treating alcohol or sugar like it’ll kill them if they look at it. Tracking their sleep. Counting their steps. It’s possible to live a healthy life without being an obsessive, paranoid lunatic. You’re gonna die either way. In a few decades you’ll be just as dead as the rest of us, if not sooner. Relax a little and live your life while you still can.

In another post shared on Sunday, Walsh criticized people who obsess over monitoring their health metrics. He claimed that the focus on health consciousness has become “massively overboard.”

“People walking around with bands tracking their vital signs every second of the day like they’re astronauts on the ISS. Treating alcohol or sugar like it’ll kill them if they look at it. Tracking their sleep. Counting their steps. It’s possible to live a healthy life without being an obsessive, paranoid lunatic,” he added.

Walsh argued that everyone is destined to die eventually, “if not sooner.” He advised people to “relax a little and live your life.”

Previously, Walsh has shared his views on alcohol consumption. In March 2024, he posted several tweets opposing marijuana use. In discussions on X, Walsh asserted in one of his tweets that “casual consumption” of alcohol and tobacco “is not nearly as harmful,” emphasizing their longstanding presence in American culture.
