In Pass the Fear’s co-op mode, you can join forces with up to four friends to conquer various challenges. The game accommodates both Steam lobbies and LAN mode, allowing you to connect in the way you prefer. To enhance the multiplayer experience, developers have introduced special mechanics like item sharing and reviving.
This article details how to engage in Pass the Fear’s co-op mode with your friends.
How to play Pass the Fear in co-op mode with friends
The newly released roguelike game, Pass the Fear, enables players to collaborate via two methods: Steam lobby or LAN mode. Each supports up to four players per run, adhering to the same foundational rules.
A crucial point to note is that players can only join your lobby during the camp preparation phase. Once the run starts, additional friends cannot join, so ensure everyone is present before beginning.
How to create a multiplayer game

To begin a co-op session in Pass the Fear and invite friends, follow these steps:
- Launch the game and select Multiplayer (Beta) from the main menu.
- Choose Steam or LAN as the Server Type if you’re hosting.
- Select the difficulty level and player limit for your game.
- Set the lobby to Public for any online player to join directly, or use Private to create a lobby code that others must enter to join.
What can you do in co-op?
Item sharing

Weapons, relics, and weapon parts can be dropped on the ground using E. After dropping an item, press F to share it with teammates.
Revive teammates
In single-player mode, the game ends when your character is downed. However, in Pass the Fear’s co-op mode, a downed player can crawl and call for help. A teammate can revive them by holding E.
The run is only considered failed if all players are down simultaneously.
Damage comparison
The multiplayer mode also includes a damage stats panel showing both total and single-stage damage. The top DPS player’s ID is highlighted in gold, encouraging friendly competition among teammates, making the co-op more engaging.
