Spencer Pratt’s bid for the Los Angeles mayoral seat has drawn considerable attention, with support and criticism from various public figures.
Marking a year since the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles that claimed his home, The Hills alum announced his mayoral candidacy in early 2026. Pratt, a registered Republican since 2020, is presenting himself as an “independent community advocate,” distancing himself from both major political parties. Despite this stance, he has received commendations from several MAGA personalities, including President Donald Trump.
“People want someone who tells them the truth,” Pratt shared in Us Weekly’s cover story. “I understand what it’s like to suffer from the city’s shortcomings—whether it’s losing your home to fire, facing crime, losing work due to business closures, or encountering troubling scenes in public spaces. I won’t stand by anymore.”

Val Chmerkovskiy

Dancing With the Stars professional Val Chmerkovskiy expressed his support for Pratt, stating, “The Spencer I know is a committed husband, dedicated father, and a lifelong resident who genuinely cares about Los Angeles and its residents.”
Drew Droege
Comedian Drew Droege initially viewed Pratt’s candidacy as a “joke,” questioning the seriousness of his political intentions. He remarked, “A serious candidate would start with a smaller role to understand the process.”
Droege criticized Pratt’s run as a mere stunt, citing past financial losses and his lack of homeowners insurance as examples of poor judgment. “He’s no more than a con artist. Blocking critics online during the primary is proof of immaturity,” Droege said.
While Droege believes some celebrities could make effective leaders, he argues that Pratt lacks a clear plan. He dismissed the support Pratt has received from figures like Katharine McPhee and James Woods.
Amber Rose
Model Amber Rose supports Pratt, believing he will be an effective mayor due to his roots in Los Angeles. “He’s seen the city’s decline firsthand, and he wants to restore it to its former glory for the benefit of our children,” she said.
Rose, who moved to Los Angeles in 2010, expressed understanding of Pratt’s frustration and confidence in his ability to address issues like homelessness and wildfires. She dismissed claims of Pratt’s campaign being a publicity stunt, asserting that he genuinely seeks to improve the city for its residents.
Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino
Jersey Shore star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino believes Pratt has the potential to be a successful mayor, citing his ability to engage with people. “I support him because he openly addresses daily issues affecting citizens,” he said.
Sorrentino emphasized Pratt’s personal understanding of local challenges, arguing that traditional politicians often lack this firsthand experience. He believes Pratt’s emphasis on solving problems like cost of living and safety resonates with voters.
Jamie Kennedy
Actor Jamie Kennedy, a California resident since 18, appreciates Pratt’s connection to the city. “He was blindsided by the fire, which ignited his purpose,” Kennedy shared.
Kennedy described Pratt as a transformed individual with a clear vision, criticizing career politicians and highlighting Pratt’s ability to connect with diverse groups. He dismissed the notion of Pratt’s run being a publicity move, noting support from unexpected quarters as evidence of his appeal.
Perez Hilton

Gossip columnist Perez Hilton praised Pratt’s strategic approach, highlighting his intelligence. “People underestimate how smart The Hills alum is,” he remarked.
Hilton, who refers to himself as a “Spencer loyalist,” expressed confidence in Pratt’s genuine political motivations and campaign goals.
