A recent $1.6 million legal settlement involving Krispy Kreme is nearing its conclusion, offering potential cash payments to tens of thousands of eligible individuals. The settlement, which received preliminary court approval on March 5, requires claim forms to be submitted online or postmarked by June 22, 2026. Following a hearing on July 6, 2026, the court will grant final approval, and compensation will begin to be distributed.
The data breach at the center of the settlement occurred in November 2024, affecting the personal information of 161,676 current and former Krispy Kreme employees. This data breach exposed sensitive details such as names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and financial data. While Krispy Kreme denied any liability or wrongdoing, they agreed to the terms of the settlement.
Individuals impacted by the breach may be eligible for up to a $3,500 reimbursement for documented losses, or a $75 cash payment without the need to provide specific details of the impact of the breach. The final amounts for these options will be determined following a court hearing on June 6, 2026. It’s important to note that these settlement options cannot be combined.
To qualify for a settlement payment, individuals must have received a notice indicating that their private information was affected by the breach and submit a claim form by the June 22 deadline. Those who are directors, officers, or agents of Krispy Kreme or its affiliates, or part of a governmental entity, are not eligible for compensation.
Documentation for reimbursement may include phone records, emails, and receipts. Additionally, eligible members will receive credit monitoring services for one year without the need to submit a claim. This service includes $1 million in identity theft insurance with no deductible.
Claim forms must be submitted by June 22, 2026, and individuals have until June 6, 2026, to exclude themselves from the settlement or object to its terms. Claimants can choose between a reimbursement of up to $3,500 with documentation or a $75 cash payment without the need for documentation. Claims can be filed online at krispykremedatasettlement.com or by mail to the Settlement Administrator.
Class members were sent postcard notices with unique IDs and PINs for claim submission. If you did not receive a notice or have misplaced it, contact the Settlement Administrator for assistance. Credit monitoring activation codes were also provided through postcard notices, and individuals can contact the administrator if they did not receive one.
Cash payments will be issued after the final approval hearing on July 6, 2026, and any potential appeals are resolved. It’s essential for eligible individuals to take action before the deadlines to ensure they receive the compensation they may be entitled to from the Krispy Kreme settlement.
