Meta is working on an AI-powered pendant set for testing within the next year, as detailed in a memo seen by The Information.
This new device is likely to build upon the innovations of Limitless, an AI startup that Meta acquired at the close of 2025. Limitless had previously developed an AI pendant designed to be attached to clothing or worn as a necklace to record conversations. At the time of acquisition, Meta stated the move would help “accelerate our work to build AI-enabled wearables.”
Previous AI wearables have struggled to gain popularity among consumers, potentially due to privacy issues, ineffective marketing, or their limited usefulness. Nonetheless, companies like OpenAI continue to pursue developments in this field.
The memo further indicates that Meta plans to expand its range of AI glasses and introduce a business subscription service named Wearables for Work. Through these initiatives, Meta aims to turn around the performance of its Reality Labs division, which reported a $4 billion loss in the first quarter of this year.
JS has contacted Meta for a response.
