Cook County Crime Stoppers is providing a reward of up to $10,000 for details that lead to an arrest following a mass shooting on the West Side that resulted in one fatality and three injuries on Monday evening.
According to Chicago police, the incident occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m. near the intersection of Madison and Lockwood. Four men were standing on the sidewalk when an SUV approached, and a gunman inside the vehicle began shooting before the SUV quickly left the scene.
A 32-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the face and later died at Mount Sinai Hospital. A 34-year-old man was reported to be in critical condition, while two other victims, aged 36 and 27, were in stable condition, according to the CPD.
Paul Rutherford, executive director of Cook County Crime Stoppers, stated, “These senseless acts of violence continue to devastate families and neighborhoods throughout Cook County. We are asking anyone who may have seen something or knows who is responsible to do the right thing and come forward. Even the smallest piece of information could help investigators bring justice to the victims and prevent future violence.”
Area Four detectives are handling the investigation. The reward offer is valid for 60 days and is applicable for information leading to an arrest or indictment. Individuals with information can contact the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-535-7867 or submit a tip online at www.CPDTIP.com. Callers can remain anonymous and will receive a confidential code number to claim any reward.
CWBChicago was established in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were frustrated with the inaccurate information being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Our coverage area has since grown to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side regions. However, our mission remains constant: to deliver original public safety reporting with more context and detail than mainstream media outlets.
