Donald Trump has once again overlooked his son Don Jr. in a Father’s Day message, opting instead to commend his other son, Eric.
RadarOnline.com reports that the 80-year-old president expressed admiration for Eric, a father of two, in a social media post by the Trump Organisation. He emphasized that Eric, at 42, is “not merely the beneficiary of his father’s legacy.”
However, the message completely omits any mention of 48-year-old Don Jr., who, like Eric, holds the position of executive vice president and is a father of five with his ex-wife Vanessa Trump.
The Trump Organization’s post suggests that Eric’s success is due less to his famous surname or wealth and more to the example set by his father, who was present and led by action.
The message stated: “This Father’s Day, we celebrate not just the men who inspired it all — but the son who showed up, every single day, and proved that the greatest gift a father can give isn’t a name or a fortune. It’s an example.
“The empire that Donald J. Trump built did not survive four years of presidential service by accident.
“It survived because a son put on his hard hat and went to work.
“Eric Trump is not merely the beneficiary of his father’s legacy. He is its keeper, its engine, and its best great chapter.”
The post directs readers to a comprehensive “Father’s Day tribute” on the Trump Organization website, with the subheading, “Like Father, Like Builder,” exploring Eric Trump’s upbringing alongside one of America’s top dealmakers and his role in continuing that legacy.
The tribute highlights Eric’s early exposure to work environments, noting that he “mowed lawns” and “laid tiles,” showcasing his hands-on experience from a young age.
It further states, “What distinguishes Eric Trump from the caricature that critics attempt to construct is the texture of the man himself. He is, by all accounts, someone who genuinely loves the work — the construction, the design, the tangible satisfaction of standing in front of something he helped build. He has spoken often about his deep love for the outdoors, for skiing, for the shooting sports. He is, in a word, real.”
In his Naughty But Nice Substack, Rob Shuter comments on Don Jr.’s political aspirations, noting: “Don Jr. thinks being married makes him look more presidential.
“He understands the Republican base. This wasn’t just personal – politically, he sees it as an asset.”
Yet, his father’s absence from Don Jr.’s wedding has raised concerns.
As an insider pointed out, “People inside the family are asking the same question. If Trump couldn’t show up for one of the biggest days of his son’s life, how enthusiastic would he really be about backing a presidential campaign?”
