A contestant on “Love Island USA” has been removed from the show for the second time this season due to the use of the n-word.
Alannah Keyser, who participated in Casa Amor, will not continue on Season 8, as confirmed by Peacock. This decision followed the circulation of videos on social media showing Keyser singing a song containing the n-word. Additionally, an Instagram comment and a Snap message where she used the same slur have been shared. These videos were initially posted on private accounts and only became publicly available after Keyser’s participation on the show, making them inaccessible during Peacock’s vetting process.
Keyser’s removal follows Vasana Montgomery’s exit for a similar reason before Season 8 even started. This issue is not new: In the previous season, Yulissa Escobar was removed in the second episode for using the n-word in videos, and later, Cierra Ortega left the show after using a racist term for Asians, which she claimed she was unaware was offensive.
After Keyser’s debut on Sunday night, both the video and screenshots were shared online, leading to significant backlash.
Despite her removal, Keyser appeared in the first 20 minutes of Thursday’s episode, engaging in a conversation and sharing a kiss with partner Zach Georgiou, and later spending the night with him. She then made brief appearances in two non-speaking scenes until narrator Iain Stirling announced her departure, stating, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.”
Keyser, a 21-year-old film student from Miami, Florida, currently studying at USC, joined “Love Island USA” Season 8 in Episode 17 as a Casa Amor bombshell. Casa Amor is a midseason twist in the show that introduces new islanders to challenge existing relationships.
