David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown, known for their roles in âStranger Thingsâ over five seasons, are set to reunite on screen. Netflix has confirmed a direct-to-series order featuring the duo as stars and executive producers in an untitled Jack Thorne spy thriller produced by A24. Thorne, who co-created the Emmy-winning series âAdolescenceâ and âLord of the Fliesâ for Netflix, has also written the popular âEnola Holmesâ films starring Brown.
The series revolves around Matt Wolfe, a former FBI agent turned security expert, who is forced back into action when his daughter Rebecca, an FBI agent herself, goes missing on a mission. This unexpected event drags him into a world that has advanced beyond his previous experience.
Jinny Howe, Netflixâs Head of Scripted Series for the U.S. and Canada, expressed enthusiasm for the project, saying, âWe are thrilled to bring this spy drama to life with such talented individuals we have been privileged to work with before. Jack Thorne’s talent for uncovering the human element within a thriller is unparalleled, and seeing Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour reunite as a father and daughter in crisis is sure to captivate audiences. A24 is the ideal partner to deliver this story to our global members.âÂ

Since âStranger Thingsâ wrapped up on December 31, 2025, Harbour and Brown have remained active. Brown is set to appear in âEnola Holmes 3â on July 1, while Harbour has been featured in HBOâs âDTF St. Louis.â
While promoting these projects, both actors hinted at their upcoming collaboration. In a June 10 cover story for Variety, Harbour mentioned, âStraight up, Millie and I are working on several âŠ,â pausing before adding, âYouâll see more of me and Millie â 10 years wasnât enough. There is a special bond there. I love her. She loves me.âÂ
During a recent appearance at the 92nd Street Y, Brown confirmed the project with Harbour is definite, stating, âFather-daughter is where we live, but Netflix will always be our home.â
Brown further revealed to âHappy Sad Confusedâ host Josh Horowitz that the project with Harbour is advancing faster than anticipated, attributing the concept to Harbour’s initiative.
Despite describing their relationship as a âfather-daughterâ bond, Brown and Harbour acknowledged past tensions, clarifying reports of a crisis. A Daily Mail story from the previous fall alleged Brown filed an HR complaint against Harbour at Netflix before âStranger Things 5â began production. Harbour explained, âIn families, itâs OK because youâre just in a disagreement and then you come back together. The problem with a billion-dollar show is that thereâs just hundreds of people who want to get involved. It was just a simple rupture-and-repair thing that, once we cleared everybody out of the way and talked to each other, weâre fine.â
Brown shared her perspective in an email to Variety: âOver time, our relationship became much more collaborative creatively. When you work with someone for that many years, we could really push each other emotionally in scenes. Even though the series has ended, thereâs still a lot of gratitude.â
In âStranger Things,â Harbour portrayed Jim Hopper, Hawkins, Indiana’s police chief, who adopted Brown’s character, Eleven, a powerful lab-generated child. The series concluded with Eleven seemingly sacrificing herself to save the world. Recently, both actors discussed whether Eleven survived. Brown noted she had agreed with the Duffer brothers not to disclose Elevenâs fate.
For Harbour, the matter appeared straightforward, as he told Varietyâs Daniel DâAddario, âRight from the very beginning of that series, we love this little girl, but you really canât have a little girl in Hawkins, Indiana, with supernatural powers running around. She just cannot exist.â
The upcoming Netflix spy series will also be executive produced by Jake Bongiovi and Robert Brown for PCMA Productions; Joe Hipps and Patrick McDonald for Cut To; KC Wenson for Bravo Axolotl. Brown is represented by WME, 2PM SHARP, and Hansen, Jacobson.
