Jeremy Clarkson is making a comeback with new episodes of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and its spin-off “Millionaire Hot Seat” after announcing he is in remission from cancer.
The U.K. network ITV has commissioned 15 episodes of the main quiz show and 20 episodes of the spin-off “Hot Seat,” which debuted in January this year with Clarkson as the host. This intense game adds a twist by requiring contestants to answer questions quickly as they move through a fast-paced queue, or risk being replaced.
Both “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and “Millionaire Hot Seat” are produced by Stellify Media, a company backed by Sony Pictures Television, for ITV and its streaming service ITVX. The shows were commissioned by ITV’s Katie Rawcliffe, Kevin O’Brien, and David Smyth, with Kerri Reid serving as executive producer for Stellify.
Rawcliffe commented on the show’s success, stating, “The ‘Millionaire’ brand continues to deliver for ITV audiences and ‘Millionaire Hot Seat’ has brought an exciting new energy to the format. The combination of Jeremy Clarkson’s hosting and the high-pressure gameplay has proved a winning formula, so we’re delighted to be bringing both ‘Millionaire Hot Seat’ and ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ back for more episodes.”
Clarkson will begin filming both shows later this year. The journalist and television personality recently shared on his Prime Video series “Clarkson’s Farm” that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, he updated fans, revealing his remission following surgery and describing himself as “officially the world’s luckiest man.”
