Amundi, a leading asset management firm, has appointed Petra Salesny as the chief executive of Amundi Alpha Associates, the company’s private markets multi-management business. With over €24bn under management spanning private equity, private debt, infrastructure, and real estate, Amundi Alpha Associates plays a crucial role in the firm’s investment portfolio.
Salesny, who has been with Amundi since the acquisition of Alpha Associates in 2024, will continue to serve as the chief commercial officer in addition to her new role as CEO. She was one of the founding members of Alpha Associates in 2004 and previously held the position of chief operations officer at Swiss Life Private Equity Partners before the team separated.
Her extensive experience in the financial industry includes roles as a legal adviser to the private equity team at Bank Vontobel and as an M&A consultant at Helbling in Düsseldorf and Zurich. Salesny’s appointment reflects Amundi’s commitment to strong leadership and expertise in the private markets sector.
Amundi, a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole and listed on the stock exchange, manages over €2.3tn in assets and serves a diverse client base of 100 million retail, institutional, and corporate clients. The company offers a wide range of savings and investment products across active and passive strategies in traditional and real assets, catering to the diverse needs of its clients.
In a recent series of senior management changes effective from January 1, 2026, Amundi announced key appointments within its real assets and distribution operations. Alexandre Lefebvre was appointed deputy head of the group’s real and alternative assets division, while Pierre-Adrien Domon and Michaël Martineau were named chief executives of Sabadell Asset Management and Fund Channel, respectively. Claire Chabrier was also promoted to head of direct investments – private markets within Amundi’s real and alternative assets division.
Additionally, Amundi, along with KKR and Temasek Holdings’ Seviora unit, made non-binding bids earlier this year for a stake in United Overseas Bank’s asset management division. The proposals were submitted as part of UOB’s review of options for its asset management business, according to sources cited by Bloomberg.
“Petra Salesny named CEO of Amundi’s private markets unit” was originally published by Private Banker International, a GlobalData owned brand. The appointment of Salesny underscores Amundi’s strategic focus on strengthening its leadership team and expanding its presence in the private markets sector.
