Netflix’s drama series “Myron Bolitar” has announced its main cast members. Variety reports that Colin Woodell is set to play the titular character, with KJ Apa portraying Win Lockwood and Diane Guerrero as Esperanza Diaz.
Netflix revealed the acquisition of the series in May during its upfront presentation to advertisers. The show draws inspiration from Harlan Coben’s well-known Myron Bolitar novels, which consist of 12 books.
According to the show’s logline, “After an injury ends his NBA dreams, Myron Bolitar (Woodell) reinvents himself as a sports agent — using charm, smarts, and a ruthless partner to navigate the high-stakes and dirty world of sports, where saving his clients often means risking himself.”
Myron Bolitar is further characterized as a former college basketball star who had to rebuild his career as a sports agent after his NBA aspirations were cut short. He established his agency, MB Sports, with a focus on undervalued athletes, applying the same dedication and competitive spirit he once showed on the basketball court.
Colin Woodell, who will portray Myron Bolitar, has previously appeared in the Netflix medical drama “Pulse” and the HBO comedy series “I Love LA.” He has also featured in the “John Wick” prequel series “The Continental” and portrayed Buzz Aldrin in Greg Berlanti’s “Fly Me to the Moon,” with additional credits in “The Flight Attendant” on HBO Max.
Win Lockwood, played by KJ Apa, is described as being born into wealth but choosing to leave the family business to start anew with his close friend Myron. Known for his composure, resourcefulness, and loyalty, Win is the person Myron relies on when his clients face challenges.
KJ Apa gained fame for his role as Archie Andrews in the popular CW series “Riverdale,” which ran for seven seasons. His film credits include “The Hate U Give,” “I Still Believe,” “The Last Summer,” and “The Map That Leads To You.”
Esperanza Diaz, portrayed by Diane Guerrero, is depicted as a former professional wrestler who becomes Myron’s indispensable assistant at MB Sports. Known for her tenacity and quick wit, she is the agency’s backbone, ensuring both Myron and their clients stay on track.
Diane Guerrero gained recognition for her performance as Maritza Ramos in the influential Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black,” which lasted seven seasons. She is also recognized for her roles in the acclaimed CW show “Jane the Virgin” and the DC series “Doom Patrol” on HBO Max. In film, she lent her voice to Isabela in Disney’s hit animated musical “Encanto.”
Colin Woodell is represented by Entertainment 360, KJ Apa by UTA, Red11 Management, and Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Diane Guerrero by Innovative Artists Entertainment, Entertainment 360, and Yorn Levine Barnes.
David E. Kelley and Kyle Long are the writers, showrunners, and executive producers for “Myron Bolitar,” with Kelley executive producing through David E. Kelley Productions (DEKP). Matthew Tinker of DEKP will also executive produce, alongside Corben via Final Twist Productions and Rick Muirragui. Greg Yaitaines is set to executive produce and direct multiple episodes.
“Myron Bolitar” is the latest addition to Netflix’s adaptations of Coben’s works. Other titles include “Fool Me Once,” “Run Away,” “Safe,” “The Woods,” “The Innocent,” “Gone for Good,” “Stay Close,” “Hold Tight,” “The Stranger,” “Missing You,” “Just One Look,” “Caught,” and “I Will Find You.”
