The arrival of the Pixel Watch 5 is anticipated, having been leaked through various channels, with one even reportedly discovered at the sea’s bottom.
Google’s next flagship smartwatch has now been submitted to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), stirring some confusion in the process.
The smartwatch’s appearance at the FCC confirms that the Pixel Watch 5 is indeed on its way. It has been identified under the model numbers G25QD, G1XJ6, G0F3Y, and GFW3R, which were already verified via a BIS listing, and all are categorized as ‘wireless devices’.
This aligns with expectations of four wearable options: two different sizes and a choice in connectivity.
The confusion arises because the FCC listing indicates that all four models come equipped with LTE (4G), Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, suggesting the absence of a more affordable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-only variant, which is typically available.

Speculation exists over whether Google might introduce a Pro or Ultra model alongside the Pixel Watch 5. However, it seems more likely that all models will share the same internal components. The circuit board, capable of 4G connectivity, may have its modem disabled via firmware before shipping, similar to how some vehicles have speed limiters.
A Larger Development
The significant update is that the Pixel Watch 5 is not receiving a 5G upgrade to compete with the Apple Watch Series 11.
This decision is intriguing given that the 2026 smartwatch lineup is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite chipset, which supports 5G RedCap. This chipset may be used in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 series, although it too is anticipated to remain at 4G LTE.

Onleaks x Android Headlines
The decision to stick with 4G could be due to the ongoing memory crisis, which has significantly increased tech costs, making the upgrade to 5G less economically viable. Many consumers may not notice or appreciate the difference, leading manufacturers to offer a less costly version to maintain profit margins. The Pixel Watch 5 is also expected to see a price increase.
We won’t have to wait much longer for more details, as the Pixel Watch 5 is scheduled to launch in August alongside the Pixel 11 phones. Meanwhile, Samsung is anticipated to reveal the Galaxy Watch 9 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at its rumored Unpacked event on July 22.
