A dramatic incident unfolded at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming when a large bull bison hurled a tourist into the air, causing serious injuries. The entire episode was captured on video.
Footage reveals the unidentified man being propelled 8 feet into the air by the bison at the Bridge Bay Campground, as reported by Cowboy State Daily.
The man was accompanied by his grandson when the massive animal launched its attack.
The video captures the man attempting to flee around a group of pine trees as the bison, which had been taking a dust bath, suddenly charged at him and his grandson, violently head-butting the older man and sending him airborne.
Montana-based photographer Mike MacLeod, who captured the images, shared his surprise with Cowboy State Daily, saying, “I was just trying to get some dramatic footage of that bison having a fit. It’s changed my idea of what to expect from these guys at this time of year, because I would not have predicted that happening.”
MacLeod described how the bison wandered through the campground, approaching a group of children who were taking photos from a safe distance before charging at them.
There has been no update on the condition of the man who was thrown by the bison.
