AJ Styles has stepped into an unexpected role outside of WWE. The seasoned wrestler retired from the ring in January after his defeat to Gunther at the Royal Rumble.
Post-retirement, Styles was welcomed into the WWE Hall of Fame and has embraced a new position in the organization. His new responsibilities involve scouting talent and assisting wrestlers both backstage and in their developmental processes.
Thanks for the submission!
Despite his ongoing commitments to professional wrestling, Styles has added a unique skill to his portfolio. During his Phenomenally Retro Podcast, he shared that he is now qualified to officiate weddings.
Styles mentioned that he will officiate the wedding of a friend’s daughter.
“I can marry people now. So, one of my buddies, one of my best friends that I went to college with—we’ve been close ever since then, and his daughter’s getting married. And she needed somebody to marry them. Here I go. I’m going to do it. I’m going to be the guy,” he said.
Styles acknowledged that while getting people to marry might be challenging, acquiring the license is straightforward once the necessary details are completed. He admitted to needing more preparation on the specifics.
“I’d love to tell you how hard it is to be able to marry people, but as far as getting your license, or whatever it is that you get, it’s just filling it out and doing it. So, I’ve got two weddings that I’m going to see before I actually do the one that I’m doing here. So, I’m going to make sure I get all my words correct and everything like that. I have no idea. I’m going to have to watch videotapes on how to do this stuff and what to say. Surely I can figure it out,” he added.
AJ Styles wants WWE to expand in Japan
In his podcast discussion, AJ Styles expressed his desire for WWE to acquire a wrestling promotion in Japan, similar to their presence with AAA in Mexico.
Styles noted that WWE didn’t drastically alter the culture of the Mexican promotion but added its own influence. He hopes for a comparable approach in Japan.
The former WWE Champion believes WWE could develop new stars in Japan, alongside the existing Japanese talent within the organization.
