Meghan McCain has spoken out against online critics who labeled her “old and ugly,” asserting that she is naturally aging like everyone else.
During the Wednesday, July 22 episode of her podcast “Citizen McCain” with Miranda Wilkins, McCain, 41, addressed the comments, saying, “I’m usually quite resilient, but there’s been a lot of talk about how ‘old and ugly’ I look now.”
She countered the criticism by stating, “I’m 41 … aging is inevitable. I’m heavier because I’ve had three children.” McCain, who has daughters Liberty, 5, Clover, 3, and son Ransom, 6 months, with husband Ben Domenech, shared this personal perspective.
After a video clip featuring McCain and Wilkins discussing New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani went viral, McCain received an influx of negative remarks about her appearance from individuals unfamiliar with their show.
The former View cohost further explained that aging and change are natural processes and should not carry shame.
“I appear different because I don’t have professional hair and makeup done every day,” McCain remarked. “In the mornings, prioritizing my children and feeding my son takes precedence over getting ready, which is why my appearance might not always meet your expectations.”
McCain expressed that the negative feedback was unexpected.

“It’s harsh to face such opinions,” she admitted. “This is the first time people have commented, ‘Oh, Meghan looks a lot older.’ I am indeed older.”
Being the daughter of the late Senator John McCain, she emphasized the unfairness of being compared to her younger self.
“I’m no longer the 5-year-old with my dad running for senate, the 22-year-old during his presidential campaign, or the 32-year-old on The View,” she reflected. “I’m nearly 42 now.”

Her cohost Wilkins added, “We don’t use Botox, haven’t had thread facelifts, and aren’t on Ozempic.”
Meghan acknowledged, “It’s tempting, but I’m not [on Ozempic].”
She concluded by affirming her decision to age naturally and accept her changing appearance.
“I promise I’ll keep aging. I won’t look like I did on The View,” Meghan said. “We must all agree that I’ll continue aging.”

She humorously apologized for not being someone who opts for facelifts or injectables and not having professional styling daily.
“But one thing I assure you, Miranda and I will always be genuine with you,” Meghan promised. “This is an authentic show. We are real individuals. I might be a privileged ‘nepo baby,’ but I’m genuine. I don’t live like that.”
Meghan concluded with self-deprecating humor, saying she’ll continue to look like a “cryptkeeper” and urging listeners to accept it.
