An armed citizen made a valiant attempt to stop a gunman who opened fire at an Idaho In-N-Out, as captured in dramatic video footage and recounted by witnesses. The video reveals a man with a handgun exchanging shots with the shooter outside the Twin Falls restaurant.
The footage shows the armed citizen confronting the shooter, who was armed with an AR-style rifle. Witnesses reported that the citizen’s actions may have prevented further casualties by distracting the gunman, allowing patrons and staff to flee the crowded establishment.
In the tragic incident, two people lost their lives and seven others were injured. Authorities believe the gunman took his own life.
Lane Koehn, who recorded the video from his car, noted that the armed citizen’s intervention provided a crucial distraction. Koehn, 34, was stopped at a traffic light near the In-N-Out when he witnessed a man emerge from the drive-thru with an AR-style rifle, followed by another man shooting at him with a pistol.
Koehn also saw an In-N-Out employee, bleeding from a chest wound, being dragged across the parking lot by another uniformed worker. Koehn, along with the armed citizen and the employee, stayed with the injured worker until medical help arrived.
“She was pretty bad off, but I don’t know. I hope she made it,” Koehn shared with KPTV.
The police have yet to disclose the identity and motive of the deceased gunman.
