For each season, Sportmax introduces a conceptual theme, and for the resort 2027 collection, the brand turned to architecture. Instead of the anticipated gravity-defying, Zaha Hadid-inspired curvilinear designs, the focus was on a more practical exploration: achieving lightness in tailoring and making volumes seem weightless.
The design team reworked the brand’s established sharp construction style, easing its intensity by using airy layers of nylon and silk organza to lighten jackets and dusters. Geometry guided the process, with dresses evolving from square and rectangular panels into flowing silhouettes. Sheer inserts, pleats, and overlapping panels played with the balance between concealment and exposure. In this collection, architecture served as a means to organize space around the body.
The standout pieces embraced this minimalist approach. A translucent suit offered an airy look, as did a lightweight technical bomber paired with sheer cargo pants. Fringing appeared sparingly on knitwear and was more pronounced on bustiers and gilets, adding movement as a decorative element.
Not every architectural concept from the moodboard made it into the final wardrobe, but this might not have been crucial. The collection excelled when it stayed true to Sportmax’s strengths: providing clothes with clarity and just enough innovation to make everyday wear feel special.
