DoorDash, Inc., a San Francisco-based company, is a leading player in the commerce platform industry. With a market cap of $87.4 billion, DoorDash specializes in developing technology that connects customers with merchants through an on-demand food delivery application.

Despite its prominent position in the market, DoorDash’s stock performance has been lackluster over the past year. The company’s shares have declined by 19.3%, while the broader S&P 500 Index has seen a 21.8% increase. In 2026, DoorDash’s stock has dropped by 11.5%, in contrast to the SPX’s 11% gains year-to-date.

Comparing DoorDash’s performance to the Invesco NASDAQ Internet ETF (PNQI), it’s evident that the company has underperformed. The ETF has experienced a 2.4% decline over the past year, with a 7.3% dip year-to-date, outshining DoorDash’s double-digit losses.

The decline in DoorDash’s stock can be attributed to investor concerns surrounding heavy reinvestment spending on international growth, drone technology, and new non-restaurant verticals. These factors have impacted near-term EBITDA margins, leading to periodic earnings misses and high valuation expectations. Additionally, inflation pressures on consumer delivery budgets and regulatory uncertainties related to gig-worker pay mandates have further weighed on the stock.

Despite these challenges, DoorDash reported positive Q1 results, with revenue reaching $4 billion, a 33.1% year-over-year increase. However, the company’s EPS dropped by 4.5% to $0.42 compared to the same quarter last year. Analysts project a 11.7% growth in EPS for the current fiscal year, expecting it to reach $2.38 on a diluted basis.

The consensus among 40 analysts covering DoorDash’s stock is a “Strong Buy,” with 29 “Strong Buy” ratings, two “Moderate Buys,” eight “Holds,” and one “Strong Sell.” Notably, RBC Capital analyst Brad Erickson maintained a “Buy” rating on DoorDash with a price target of $270, implying a potential upside of 34.7% from current levels.

In conclusion, while DoorDash faces challenges in the market, analysts remain optimistic about its growth prospects. The company’s innovative technology and strategic initiatives position it well for future success in the competitive commerce platform industry.
