Samsung Announces New 200Mp Camera but the Galaxy S27 Won’t Get It – Tech Advisor

Samsung has introduced a series of advanced technologies, including its industry-first DeepPix, to transform light capture. This technology also enhances HDR performance across all zoom levels and provides single-frame 16-bit HDR. Additionally, it supports 4K video recording at an impressive 180fps for slow-motion capture.

Samsung’s DeepPix is described as “a new pixel structure engineered to improve Full Well Capacity (FWC).” By utilizing advanced Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI), DeepPix increases both the photodiode capacity and shared floating diffusion, boosting single-pixel FWC by 60% compared to the previous generation.

Although this module shares the same core specifications as the main module in the Galaxy S26 Ultra—featuring a 1/1.3-inch sensor with 0.6μm pixels and Super Quad Phase-Detection autofocus—the enhancements appear to be quite significant.

It might seem logical to expect Samsung to incorporate this new camera into the future Galaxy S27 series, particularly the S27 Ultra. However, this seems unlikely.

Due to Samsung’s organizational structure, this HPC module is mainly produced for other smartphone manufacturers to purchase and use in their devices. It is already in mass production and is expected to be included in upcoming smartphones from brands such as Vivo, Xiaomi, and Oppo.

Samsung is taking a business-focused approach, with the Galaxy S27 instead rumored to feature an ISOCELL HP6 module. This model might also see the removal of one camera to reduce costs. The HP6 is expected to be a 200Mp sensor at 1/1.3-inch, with enhancements similar to the HPC module, indicating that the changes are not entirely unfavorable.
