One year after President Donald J. Trump declared a crime emergency in Washington, D.C., and initiated the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, the outcomes are clear.
The nation’s capital has transformed from a city plagued by violence and disorder. Violent criminals, gang members, drug dealers, and sex offenders have been removed from the streets. Homeless encampments have been cleared, parks have been restored, and crime has reached historic lows.
The Task Force , which includes a unique collaboration of over 20 federal and local agencies supported by the National Guard, has consistently enforced the law:
- Over 16,000 arrests
- 35 homicide suspects detained
- More than 100 gang members apprehended
- Over 3,200 arrests related to drugs
- Nearly 2,000 illegal firearms confiscated
- 25 missing children found and returned home
Under President Trump’s leadership, violent crime has been reduced to levels not seen in decades. Homicides have dropped significantly. Carjackings, robberies, and overall crime have decreased sharply. Once one of the most dangerous cities in America, Washington, D.C., is now progressing toward becoming the safest and most beautiful capital in the world.
President Trump pledged to address the crime crisis that Democrats were said to have let worsen — and he fulfilled that pledge.
