A woman known as Jane Doe 4 has joined a lawsuit filed by three Tennessee teenagers against Elon Musk’s xAI. The case claims that the company’s chatbot, Grok, allegedly contributed to the creation of child sexual abuse material.
As reported by The Washington Post, the woman contends that her stepfather utilized Grok to alter a photo of her taken at age 11, generating over 7,000 explicit images. She also mentioned that her stepfather died by suicide two days after a law enforcement raid uncovered the images.
“Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly,” the woman remarked, expressing concern over how such tools are transforming daily life into child sexual abuse.
The teenagers’ lawsuit accuses xAI, now part of SpaceX, of neglecting to implement basic safeguards to prevent Grok’s misuse in creating explicit images of real individuals, including minors. Earlier this year, millions of Grok-generated sexualized images were reportedly produced. The plaintiffs are seeking class action status for their suit.
JS has contacted xAI for a statement.
