President Trump Delivers Largest Prescription Drug Price Drop in Over 60 Years – The White House

President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to reducing prescription drug prices has been realized. Recent data indicates that prescription drug prices have experienced their most significant annual drop in over 60 years, marking the sharpest decline since 1963, following the implementation of the Trump Administration’s Most Favored Nation policies.

President Trump is the first President to successfully lower prescription drug prices, a direct result of his decisive actions. The Most Favored Nation pricing policy involves 17 of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, which represent about 86% of the branded drug market. These companies have agreed to align U.S. prices with those of other developed nations, ceasing the long-standing practice of Americans subsidizing lower drug costs abroad and ensuring fair pricing for domestic patients.

The Trump Administration’s innovative TrumpRx program has already resulted in $700 million in savings for millions of American patients. GLP-1 medications, once priced over $1,000 per month, are now available starting at $149. Additionally, costs for fertility drugs, inhalers, insulin, cholesterol treatments, and many other expensive drugs have been reduced by 50–90% or more.

The impact is evident:

  • Prescription drug prices have decreased by 3.9% since President Trump took office and have fallen every month of 2026. Nonprescription drugs have seen a 2.4% reduction over the same period.
  • Medical care commodities, including equipment and supplies, have decreased by 2.7% over the past year.
  • The Department of Veterans Affairs has secured more than $10 billion in pharmaceutical savings this fiscal year alone.
  • Long-term savings projected from the Most Favored Nation framework could reach hundreds of billions.

No prior administration has achieved this. The Most Favored Nation policy and TrumpRx are responsible for the most significant drop in prescription drug prices in over six decades, providing substantial relief to American families and prioritizing patient needs.
