A Florida biology teacher, previously convicted of sexually abusing a high school student, is facing a lawsuit from the victim, who claims the abuse led to a loss of faith in God due to the “heinous sex acts.”

The lawsuit alleges that Brooke Anderson, 28, engaged in the abusive behavior after beginning to groom the teenager in 2021.

Originally from Rhode Island, Anderson received the lawsuit while serving a 30-month prison sentence. She was convicted last June on multiple sex crimes charges against the student, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The relationship between Anderson and the teen started without incident, according to the lawsuit.

The student would regularly eat lunch in Anderson’s classroom during his initial years at Riverview High School in Tampa.

However, as he entered his junior year, Anderson began sending him messages of a “very graphic, sexual nature,” which escalated into his senior year, according to the complaint.

In April 2025, Anderson allegedly sent “sexually provocative” images to the boy before assaulting him in her classroom the following month.

Anderson pleaded guilty to numerous charges, including three counts of unlawful sexual activity, in the criminal proceedings, the outlet reported.

The lawsuit states that the student was under the age of consent in Florida when the abuse occurred.

The lawsuit claims that the “heinous sex acts” perpetrated by Anderson resulted in “permanent psychological injuries” for the teen, including a loss of faith in God.

The victim seeks $100,000 in damages from Anderson, who is a college graduate from a $1.2 million mansion in Rhode Island.

The lawsuit contends that Anderson’s guilty plea strengthens the victim’s case against her.

The lawsuit also demands $50,000 from the Hillsborough County School Board for negligence in permitting Anderson to work at the school.

The school board chose not to comment to the Daily Mail.

Anderson was unreachable for comment.
