The Pixel Watch 5 introduces some hardware updates, such as a brighter screen reaching 3000 nits, a marginally faster processor, and increased RAM and storage. However, these enhancements don’t represent a significant leap from the Pixel Watch 4, which I have also reviewed.
It’s evident that the focus of this device is its software. The Pixel Watch 5 boasts a remarkable array of exclusive features. I’m particularly impressed with the new watch faces like Chronograph and the addition of features such as At a glance.

Yet, most of the additional features don’t particularly stand out to me. Smart Replies has been upgraded to version 2.0, but I’m not entirely convinced by it, and it’s too early to assess the Gemini Intelligence Proactive Suggestions.
The ‘raise to wake’ feature for Gemini didn’t initially impress me either. When I asked it to turn off a light, the AI assistant listened but then repeatedly disappeared. Upon checking the Google Home app on the watch, I found that it required setup, which should ideally be completed during the initial setup process.
While there are enhancements like single-hand gestures and auto bedtime, none of these seem crucial to me.

Interestingly, the upcoming features like Blood Pressure Trends and Insulin Resistance Trends will also be available on the Pixel Watch 4, as well as the Watch 3 and Fitbit Air.
